The audio system comprises a Dolby Pro Logic Decoder responsive to recorded Dolby Stereo encoded left Lt and right Rt channel audio input signals for producing Dolby Stereo decoded left L, right R, center C and forth rear surround S channel audio output signals supplied to audio speakers. The decoded C and S channel audio output signals are produced from the sum Lt + Rt and the subtraction Lt - Rt, respectively, whereby they contain a large number of harmonics. In order to reproduce at a higher level the sound corresponding to these harmonics, the Dolby Stereo decoded C and S channel audio output signals are supplied to audio speakers each comprising a sound reproducing driver mounted on a pyramidal cabinet. The driver is centered on a triangular front wall of the cabinet, and the driver and pyramidal cabinet of each audio speaker define a common geometrical axis. The pyramidal cabinet further comprises three triangular rear walls defining an apex also centered on the common geometrical axis.
