A doll's head is adapted to have a facial facsimile image applied to it's face by having a facial area of selectively colourized flexible substrate colourized to form a non-coloured central area, the non-coloured central area having a shaded band extending radially around it between the non-coloured central area and a skin-coloured outer area, the shaded band having colourized shading increasing radially outwards in density so as to blend the non-coloured central area with the skin-coloured outer area.
