An automated method for determining domain traffic including receiving at authoritative name server a request to resolve a domain name that has n labels separated by periods. The leftmost label is the first label and the top level domain is the nth label. If the first label of the received domain name includes the string "www", then a www hit counter and/or a www requesting server counter for the domain name are incremented. If the received domain name has only two labels, then an exact hit counter and/or an exact requesting server counter for the domain name are incremented. If the first label of the received domain name does not include the string "www" and does not have only two labels, then another hit counter and/or another requesting server counter for the domain name are incremented.
L'invention porte sur un procédé automatisé pour déterminer un trafic de domaine comprenant la réception au niveau d'un serveur de noms faisant autorité, d'une requête pour résoudre un nom de domaine qui comprend n étiquettes séparées par des points. L'étiquette la plus à gauche est la première étiquette et le domaine de niveau supérieur est la nième étiquette. Si la première étiquette du nom de domaine reçu comprend la chaîne « www », alors un compteur de visites www et/ou un compteur de serveur demandeur du www pour le nom de domaine sont incrémentés. Si le nom de domaine reçu comprend uniquement deux étiquettes, alors un compteur de visites exact et/ou un compteur de serveur demandeur exact pour le nom de domaine sont incrémentés. Si la première étiquette du nom de domaine reçue ne comprend pas la chaîne « www » et celui-ci ne contient pas uniquement deux étiquettes, alors un autre compteur de visites et/ou un autre compteur de serveur demandeur pour le nom de domaine sont incrémentés.
