Pairs of plants are provided in which complementing constructs result in suppression of a parental phenotype in the progeny. Methods to generate and maintain such plants, and methods of use of said plants, are provided, including use of parental plants to produce sterile plants for hybrid seed production. Also provided are regulatory elements for pollen-preferred expression of linked polynucleotides. Also provided are methods for identifying gene function, and methods for repressing transmission of transgenes.

L'invention concerne des paires de plantes dans lesquelles des constructions de complémentation entraînent la suppression d'un phénotype parental dans une descendance. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant de générer et de conserver lesdites plantes, et des procédés d'utilisation de ces plantes, notamment de plantes parentales, afin de produire des plantes stériles destinées à la production de semences hybrides. L'invention concerne en outre des éléments de régulation d'expression de polynucléotides liés à préférence pollen.
