A door and a door handle assembly (10) for opening the door comprises: a door (12) having a pivoting edge (14) and a spaced apart swinging edge (16); and an elongated handle bar (18) extending across the door from one edge to the other. The assembly (10) includes a hook (20) having a "C" shape non-movably supported on the handle bar (18) and extending outwardly from the handle bar (18) and the door (12). The hook (20) presents an open pocket (22) facing the swinging edge (16) of the door (12) to allow a person to open the door with a forearm. The hook (20) is mounted on the handle bar (18) adjacent the swinging edge of the door (12) in a corner formed in the handle bar.
