A door handle assembly including an escutcheon plate, a handle secured to the outer face of the escutcheon plate, and a turn lever mounted on the outer face of the escutcheon plate. The turn lever includes an actuator portion which passes through a transverse slot in the escutcheon plate and through an actuator hole in the door for access to the actuator of a latch assembly so as to move the latch assembly between latched and unlatched positions in response to turning of the turn lever. The actuator portion of the turn lever may be moved laterally within the slot in the escutcheon plate to accommodate door installations in which the actuator hole is centered with respect to the mounting holes for the escutcheon plate as well as installations in which the actuator hole is offset with respect to the mounting holes and the lever portion of the turn lever acts in both installations, and in all positions of the actuator portion of the turn lever, to completely mask the slot so as to preserve a pleasing exterior appearance for the door assembly. The slot also allows the same door assembly to be used for either right handed or left handed installations. The slot is provided offset with respect to the longitudinal midpoint of the escutcheon plate so as to accommodate the vast majority of door installations and a further slot is provided on the midpoint of the escutcheon plate to accommodate those installations where the actuator hole in the door is centered with respect to the mounting holes in the door.

Cette invention concerne une poignée de porte composée d'une barre de préhension et d'une béquille de verrouillage à monter sur la face extérieure d'une rosette. La béquille comporte une une tige de commande passant dans une fente transversale de la rosette et un trou correspondant du montant de porte pour actionner le mécanisme de verrouillage et déplacer le pêne entre une position de verrouillage et une position de déverrouillage. La tige de commande de la béquille peut occuper différentes positions dans la fente transversale de la rosette pour permettre la pose de la rosette indifféremment sur montant de porte à trous de montage de rosette alignés avec le trou de passage de la tige de béquille et sur montant à trous de montage de rosette décalés latéralement par rapport audit trou de passage de tige de béquille, la poignée de manoeuvre de la béquille cachant dans tous les cas et peu importe son orientation la fente transversale ménagée dans la rosette, ceci afin de préserver un aspect extérieur plaisant au regard. La fente transversale a également pour fonction de permettre l'installation sur montant de porte gauche ou droit, indifféremment. Elle est décalée par rapport à l'axe transversal de symétrie de la rosette pour permettre l'installation sur la plupart des types de portes. La rosette comporte une autre fente centrée entre ses deux petits côtés pour les installations sur portes dont le trou de passage de la tige de béquille est centrée par rapport à ses propres trous de montage.
