ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A door locking system, particularly for residential apartments, comprises a displaceable elongated locking bar mounted at the door jamb. The door is thus secured all along its height. The bar is operable by the door handle, to unlock the door, and by a remote controlled mechanism to lock the door. Alternatively, the locking may be manually performed. Electric power to the system is supplied by a rechangeable battery and no connection to the electric mains is required.
