A door panel frame has an interior reinforcing member and a plastic cover thereover. The reinforcing member is formed from a pair of side jambs rigidly secured at opposite ends thereof to a header and a sill. The cover comprises a plurality of interlocking cover pieces which are introduced to one another from opposite sides of the reinforcing member allowing complete formation of the reinforcing member prior to being fitted with the plastic cover.
