A method for producing zinc oxide by precipitating a single-phase precursor which consists, in particular, of a single-phase composite zinc/dopant oxalate in which bismuth atoms and other dopant atoms replace the zinc atoms, whereafter the composite oxalate is subjected to a decomposition heat treatment to give the doped zinc oxide. The method may be used to produce zinc oxide powders in which all the components are uniformly present, and which have a controllable morphology, a high specific surface area, and a remarkable densifiability, particularly when sintered at a moderate temperature (740 - 1000 DEG C).

Le procédé consiste à réaliser l'oxyde de zinc par précepatation d'un précurseur monophasé, constitué notamment par un oxalate mixte monophasé de zinc et de dopants dans lequel des atomes de bismuth et des autres dopants sont substitués à des atomes de zinc; l'oxalate mixte est ensuite sournis à un traitement thermique de décomposition conduisant à l'oxyde de zinc dopé. Le procédé permet de réaliser des poudres d'oxyde de zinc qui sont homogènes à l'égard de tous les éléments en présence, présentant une morpholigie contrôlable, et se caractérisent par une surface spécifique élevée et une remarquable aptitude à la densification notamment par frittage à température modérée (740°C - 1000°C).
