2119582 9305909 PCTABS00021 A melting casting process produces meltable metal cores for subsequent molding of components made of plastic material and encapsulated components such as turbine blades so they may be held for machining. The process utilizes a double acting piston (12) in a cylinder (10) to permit unlimited dispensing capacity without having to pause between piston strokes. The apparatus comprises a tank (32) for containing molten metal, a double acting cylinder (10) having both ends closed and an injection piston (12) therein and an operating mechanism for reciprocating the piston (12) in the cylinder (10). Valve mechanisms (20, 26) are provided so that when the piston (12) is moved in either direction in the cylinder (10), a flow of molten metal passes through an injection passageway (42) into a die (46), and molten metal from the tank (32) fills the space behind the moving piston (12) thus the cylinder (10) always remains full of molten metal.
