DOUBLE AXLE DRIVE FOR RAIL CARS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A double axle drive for rail vehicles is disclosed which includes a pair of wheel sets each with a wheel axle, an electric motor with armature extending in the travel direc- tion of the wheel vehicle and an angular transmission gear connected to opposite ends of the electric motor and rotat- ably supporting a respective wheel axle. Each angular transmission gear includes a drive shaft engaged to a clutch which transmits torque only to opposite ends of the armature spindle. The angular transmission gear also has a first bevel gear stage and a second spur geared pinion stage engaged be- tween the drive shaft and the wheel axle.
