A rotary cutting tool which is suitable for use as a mill cutting tool, and particularly as an end mill cutting tool. The cutting tool is configured such that the ends of the tool are designed to perform complementary cutting operations, such as a roughing operation which is followed by a finishing operation. The cutting tool of this invention generally includes a shaft having oppositely disposed first and second ends. A first cutting feature is disposed at the first end of the shaft, while a second cutting feature is disposed at the second end of the shaft. As a result, the shank of the tool is located between the first and second cutting features. The second cutting feature is complementary to the first cutting feature, denoting that the first cutting feature is adapted for use in a first machining operation and the second cutting feature is adapted for use in a second machining operation subsequent to the first machining operation. Accordingly, two complementary operations can be performed more rapidly and economically because the required complementary cutters are provided on a single cutting tool.
