A latch for a vehicle closure member, said latch comprising a disabling lever for disabling the release of a striker from the latch when operating the inside and outside door handles, said latch including a double-locking sub-assembly mounted with the latch and in communication with a servo actuator, said servo actuator being selectively operable by a user by operation of operating means such as a key cylinder and/or a key pad and/or remote control unit or the like, said double-lock assembly including a locking lever rotatably supported with the sub-assembly including first engaging portions, said double-lock assembly also including a double-locking lever also including second engaging portions for engagement with the first engaging portions of the locking lever, said first and second engaging portions providing simultaneous cooperative motion of the locking lever and the double-locking lever when either lever is in the unlocked or locked position and to and from the locked and unlocked position, said first and second engaging portions including means to disengage said portions from one another when the double-locking lever is moved to the double-lock position, wherein at said double-locked position said locking lever will not move simultaneously with the double-locking lever, said double-locking lever including means for engaging the disabling lever of the latch to disable and enable the release of the latch by the inside and outside release levers simultaneously with the operation of the locking lever unless said double-locking lever is in the double-lock position wherein movement of the locking lever is disjointed from said double-locking lever and motion of said locking lever to and from the locked and unlocked position will not change the condition of the latch mechanism. In a preferred embodiment, a child-safety lever may be included with the sub-assembly.
