- 15 - DOUBLE-SIDED SANDING BLOCK ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Conventional sanding blocks have the abrasive surfaced paper extending from side to side and being secured to the sides which inhibits heavy lengthwise sanding and the surface of the block upon which the abrasive paper is secured is generally planar. Some blocks permit the abrasive material to extend from one end to the other but anchoring same against movement during the heavy sanding action is difficult. The present block has a double-sided configuration enabling two different types of abrasive paper or the like to be secured one on each side thereof. Blind slots are formed in each end of the block into which the ends of the upper and lower abrasive paper or material engage and which is held in place and tensioned upon the block surface by a resilient clip engaging within each slot frictionally holding the abrasive material in position. The end portions of the upper and lower surfaces of the block incline outwardly and towards one another with the central portion of the surfaces being spaced and parallel to one another. A resilient pad may be secured to one or both surfaces of the block to cushion the abrasive material detachably spanning same.
