ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An assembly comprising a traverse rod and associated elements for supporting drapery and the like, the rod having two identical tracks which extend longitudinally and receive movable hangers. The rod, composed of extruded aluminum, has the same cross-section throughout. The tracks are of rectangular cross-section with a continuous slot along a bottom side, such side having a shorter width than the height of the vertical sidewalls of each track. A relatively thick horizontal bar connects the tracks about midway on the adjacent sidewalls of the track, the bar having substantially the same width as each track. The bar is provided on its top and bottom with grooves of a V-configuration in cross-section, the grooves extending long- itudinally and being centered relative to the width of the bar and providing for the centering of a drill bit for forming an opening in the bar for receiving screws and other fastening members. A lug comprising an extension of the outer vertical sidewalls of each track extends upwardly and inwardly horizontally as a flange to define horizontally disposed recesses above each track, each flange having a width of about one-quarter of the width of the rod and being coplanar. A splice bar of extruded aluminum is provided which has a cross-section matching the space in and between the recesses and above the horizontal bar whereby the top of the splice bar is coplanar with the upper surfaces of the flanges and the lower surface of the splice bar includes a protrusion to match the groove on top of the horizontal bar. A like groove is centered longitudinally along the top surface of the splice bar. This bar functions to connect and align like rods so that their tracks are essentially continuous. A bracket for mounting the rod along a vertical wall or other support is L-shaped and has at the end of one of its legs a pair of extensions which are received in the recesses of the rod to support same. The bracket is also of extruded aluminum and includes two horizontal grooves along the other leg for centering a drill bit to form an opening for screws or bolts. A further aluminum extruded part has the cross-section of an inverted "T" wherein the cross-bar corresponds to the recesses on the top of the rod for receipt of this part for hanging or otherwise supporting the rod. With an opening through the vertical portion of this part, the rod is hung from depending members such as chains. With a ceiling of panels supported by horizontal strips received under the edges of the panels, a further part of the assembly is provided with a horizontal plate which corresponds to the recesses in the rod and a vertical portion which extends upwardly at one end of the plate to where a further horizontal plate extends normally therefrom. Such further plate is receivable by a ceiling supporting strip either above same with the strip being located between such upper plate and the rod, or being fastened to the top of the upper plate, a groove being provided in the upper surface of the further plate to assist in the drilling of an opening for a screw or bolt or other fastening member, if desired. Opposite sides of the rod in cross-section constitute mirror images across a vertical center line. All parts other than the hangers and hooks are composed of extruded aluminum.
