In a water driven down-the-hole rock drill, the rearward end of an associated hammer is provided with a drive piston reciprocable in a cylinder located adjacent the rear of the drill. The front end of the hammer is guided for reciprocation in a bearing located adjacent an anvil of a drill bit. Between the cylinder and the bearing the hammer is elongated and enlarged diametrically relative to the piston. The enlarged hammer portion reciprocates freely in a chamber formed by an outer casing of the drill. Drive water is expelled from the cylinder and flushes the hole drilled by the bit. An open ended tubular valve reciprocates to control a duct connecting the interior of the valve to coaxial through-flushing channels in the hammer and the drill bit.

Cette invention concerne un perforateur fond de trou à entraînement hydraulique dont le trépan est animé par un piston à mouvement alternatif logé dans un cylindre disposé à l'arrière dudit trépan. Un palier disposé à proximité de la partie enclume du trépan assure le guidage rectiligne de celui-ci. Entre le cylindre et le palier, le trépan présente une section allongée dont le diamètre est supérieur à celui du piston. Cette partie de grand diamètre coulisse librement dans un chambrage délimité par l'enveloppe extérieure du perforateur. L'eau servant à l'entraînement du perforateur est chassée du cylindre pour nettoyer le trou foré. Un clapet tubulaire ouvert à un bout règle l'écoulement par un passage reliant l'intérieur du clapet à des canaux coaxiaux d'évacuation de l'eau ménagés dans le trépan et le perforateur lui-même.
