The present invention details methods for the treatment of cancer. In particular, it concerns the induction of apoptosis in cancer cells following treatment with inhibitors of DNA repair in combination with p53 gene therapy. Treatment of glioblastoma and breast tumor cells with inhibitors of DNA repair induced growth suppression that was a result of p53-mediated apoptosis. Thus it appears that inhibitors of DNA repair in combination with p53 gene therapy is involved in restoration of p53-mediated apoptosis.
La présente invention concerne des procédés pour traiter le cancer. En particulier, elle a pour objet l'induction de l'apoptose dans les cellules cancéreuses après le traitement par des inhibiteurs de la regénération de l'ADN en association avec une thérapie génique par p53. Le traitement des glioblastomes et des cellules des tumeurs du sein par des inhibiteurs de la regénération de l'ADN se traduit par une suppression de la croissance, due à l'apoptose induite par p53. Ainsi, il semble que les inhibiteurs de la regénération de l'ADN en association avec une thérapie par le gène p53 engendre une restauration de l'apoptose induite par p53.
