A downhole drill bit drive motor for use in drilling boreholes in the earth comprising an outer case, a drive motor supported within the outer case and a mechanical shafting assembly to provide a driving torque to an attached drill bit. A coupling is provided connected to the mechanical shafting assembly to provide mechanical connection to and to accommodate eccentric or angular motions of the drive motor. There is also a bearing assembly to provide radial and axial support for the mechanical shafting assembly. A bilateral electrical conductor extends axially through the motor, the coupling and the mechanical shafting assembly to a connection proximate the drill bit. The electrical conductor includes at least one electrically conducting wire, and at least one rotary electrical connection providing rotational capability for the at least one conducting wire.
