Le marteau comporte un dispositif d'injection de gazole dans la chambre au-dessus du piston et un mécanisme pour déclancher l'injection lors de la remontée du piston; la compression supplémentaire provoque la combustion du mélange air-gazole, qui projette le piston vers le taillant.
