A method and apparatus for cutting one or more longitudinal members (VL, WL), external to a downhole tubular conduit (TC), by pulling upward on a cutter body (12) attached to the tubular conduit, where the longitudinal members are run between cutter knives (18, 20) within the cutter body. The cutter knives are attached to one external longitudinal member. After the main tubular conduit is cut below the cutter body, the tubular conduit is pulled, lifting the cutter body, thereby engaging the cutter knives with sloping surfaces (46, 48) on the cutter body to force the knives together, severing the external longitudinal members.

Procédé et dispositif servant à sectionner un ou plusieurs éléments allongés (VL, WL) situés à l'extérieur d'une canalisation de fond de puits (TC), ce qui consiste à effectuer une traction vers le haut sur un corps coupant (12) fixé à cette canalisation, les éléments allongés étant déplacés entre des lames coupantes (18, 20) à l'intérieur dudit corps coupant. Ces lames sont fixées à un élément extérieur allongé. Après le sectionnement de la canalisation principale au-dessous du corps coupant, ladite canalisation est soumise à une traction, ce qui soulève le corps coupant et permet de mettre en contact les lames coupantes avec les surfaces inclinées (46, 48) de ce corps coupant afin de rapprocher les lames et, de ce fait, sectionner les éléments extérieurs allongés.
