A submergible pumping system having a gas separator 18 with multiple separation chambers 36 is disclosed. The gas separator 18 includes an outer housing 32 having a hollow interior 34 divided into a plurality of separation chambers 36. A shaft 38 and an inducer 42 are rotatably mounted within the hollow interior 34. A plurality of flow-through bearings 44, 46 are distributed through the hollow interior 34 to support the rotatable shaft 38. Also, a plurality of vortex generators 48 are disposed in the hollow interior 34 to generate and maintain a fluid vortex during separation.
