A controllable seismic source (301) is used in a seismic-while-drilling system for obtaining VSP data. Coded information is sent downhole about the signal generated by said controllable source (301). The information about the seismic source (301) is used for reconstructing the source waveform and processing the VSP data. Optionally, a reference signal measured at one depth (3005, 307, etc.) of the BHA is used for processing of signals at subsequent depths.

Selon l'invention, une source sismique contrôlable est utilisée lors d'un levé sismique en cours de forage, en vue d'obtenir des données VSP. Des informations codées sont envoyées dans le fond de trou concernant le signal généré par ladite source contrôlable. Ces informations concernant la source sismique sont utilisées pour reconstituer la forme d'onde de la source et traiter les données VSP. Facultativement, un signal de référence mesuré à une profondeur du BHA est utilisé pour traiter des signaux à des profondeurs subséquentes.
