The wellbore (10) is adapted for use as a lubricator (14) for assembly of lengthy installations. The subsurface safety valve (12) is used in conjunction with a nipple (16) inserted into the wellbore (10) and held in position by a packer (20). A plug (18) is part of the nipple assembly. Upon setting of the packer (20), two barriers downhole are created to facilitate assembly of tools such as a perforating gun in the wellbore behind two barriers. The tool such as a perforating gun (30), has a running tool (32) below it which engages the plug (18). When the assembly is made up in the wellbore (10), the plug (18) is engaged by the running tool (32) and released from the nipple (16). The plug (18) can then be advanced through the open subsurface safety valve (12) to the proper location for deployment of a perforating gun (30), for example. Upon completion of the downhole procedures, such as perforating, the tools are brought uphole and the plug (18) is sealingly relatched in the nipple (16), thus recreating the necessary two barriers to permit opening the wellbore (10) at the surface to remove the assembly of the downhole tools and the running tool (32). The plug (18) can be re-engaged as many times as necessary for installation of a variety of equipment. The nipple (16) can then also be removed after the packer (20) is released.

Le bouchon (18) peut être déplacé, par la soupape de sûreté ouverte (12), jusqu'à l'endroit approprié pour le déploiement du perforateur par exemple. Une fois les opérations de fond terminées, la foration par exemple, les outils sont remontés et le bouchon (18) est réinséré de façon étanche dans le raccord (16), ce qui recrée les deux cloisons d'obturation nécessaires à l'ouverture du sondage (10) en surface, par où sont retirés le perforateur et l'outil de pose (32). Le bouchon (18) peut être enlevé et remis en place autant de fois que cela est nécessaire pour l'installation d'équipements divers. Le raccord droit (16) peut également être enlevé, une fois le packer désengagé.
