"IMPROVED DOWNHOLE RECIPROCATING PUMP" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Spinning motion is imparted to oilwell production fluid as it moves through the downhole reciprocating pump used to lift the fluid to surface. The motion assists in maintaining sand in the fluid suspended, so that it does not as easily settle and accumulate between the parts of the pump, to cause wear of those parts. Spinning is imparted at each of the travelling and standing valves by forming the valve cage with ports having a helical configuration. Similarlly, outlet ports in the plunger exit provide a spinning of the passing fluid out of the plunger into the pump barrel. The fluid is directed by the ports against the surface of the pump barrel and adopts a spiral vortice form.
