The present invention is directed to a stabilizer-type downhole tool comprising an elongate main body, at least one non-rotary elongate blade and an attachment means co-operative between the main body and the blade to retain the blade on the main body. The blade lies generally longitudinally along the exterior of the main body and projects radially outwardly therefrom. The tool has a straight axial position and the attachment means operates to permit limited relative longitudinal movement in either of two axial directions between one end of the blade and the adjacent portion of the main body. The attachment means is also adapted to permit pivotal movement of each end of the blade about a respective tangential axis.
