A stabilizer-type downhole tool comprises an elongate main body (10). At least one elongate blade (14) lying generally longitudinally along the exterior of the main body (10) projects radically outwardly therefrom. Attachment means cooperative between the main body (10) and the blade (14) removeably retain the blade (14) on the main body (10) so as to permit limited relative longitudinal movement between one end of the blade (14) and the adjacent portion of the main body (10) without necessitating corresponding movement at the other end of the blade (14). The main body (10) may comprise an instrument-receiving cavity (16a) beneath the blade (141 and an elongate instrument in a sealed housing may be disposed in the cavity (16a), with its ends retained with respect to the adjacent portion of the main body (10) without necessitating corresponding movement at the other end. At least one of the housing ends is so retained as to permit relative longitudinal movement with respect to the main body (10).

Ledit corps principal (10) peut comprendre, sous la lame (14), une cavité (16a) réceptrice d'instrument et un instrument allongé enfermé dans un boîtier étanche peut être placé dans ladite cavité (16a), ses extrémités étant retenues par rapport à la partie adjacente du corps principal (10) sans qu'il existe nécessairement un mouvement correspondant à l'autre extrémité. Au moins une des extrémités du boîtier est retenue de cette manière pour permettre le mouvement longitudinal relatif par rapport au corps principal (10).
