The transmit power of a base station transmission to a mobile station is advantageously controlled. The base station receives a signal from the mobile station and determines a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) associated with the received signal. The base station controls its transmit power to the mobile station using the determined SIR value in conjunction with a transmit power control command received from the mobile station. When the mobile station is in the process of a soft handover involving two or more base stations, each of those base stations determines an SIR value associated with a signal received from the mobile station. Moreover, each of the base stations controls its respective power using both the power control command received from the mobile station and the SIR determined by that base station. Similarly, when the mobile station is in the process of softer handover involving two or more sectors of a single base station, the SIR associated with a signal received from the mobile station in each of those base station sectors is determined and used to control the respective power of each base station sector in conjunction with a power control command received from the mobile station.
La puissance d'émission d'une transmission d'une station de base vers une station mobile est régulée avantageusement. La station de base reçoit un signal de la station mobile et détermine un rapport signal/brouillage (RSB) associé au signal reçu. La station de base régule sa puissance d'émission vers la station mobile à l'aide de la valeur RSB déterminée conjointement avec une commande de régulation de puissance d'émission reçue de la station mobile. Lorsque la station mobile se trouve en cours de transfert programmable impliquant au moins deux stations de base, chacune de ces stations de base détermine une valeur RSB associée à un signal reçu de la station mobile. De plus, chacune des stations de base régule sa puissance respective en utilisant à la fois la commande de régulation de puissance reçue de la station mobile et le RSB déterminé par cette station de base. De même, lorsque la station mobile se trouve en cours de transfert programmable impliquant au moins deux secteurs d'une seule station de base, le RSB associé à un signal reçu de la station mobile dans chacun de ces secteurs de la station de base est déterminé et utilisé pour réguler la puissance respective de chaque secteur de la station de base conjointement à une commande de régulation de puissance reçue de la station mobile.
