A method is provided for communicating an instruction to a downhole assembly. The method may comprise increasing or decreasing a data rate of downlink signaling utilizing a plurality of preprogrammed lookup tables. Further, the method may comprise achieving an effective high data rate of downlink signaling utilizing a plurality of preprogrammed lookup tables. Switching may occur between preprogrammed lookup tables, and an instruction may be communicated to modify parameters in the preprogrammed lookup tables. As well, a data rate of uplink signaling may be increased or decreased, wherein the data rate of downlink signaling may be increased or decreased if the data rate of uplink signaling is increased or decreased. Finally, the method may comprise achieving a high data rate downlink and uplink signaling, wherein the data rate of downlink signaling can be increased when the data rate of uplink signaling is increased.
