The file, or a part thereof, is divided into a series of R groups of data, and each of the groups is subdivided into a series of C blocks of the data. A group of C redundancy blocks is generated, each redundancy block being related to respective ones of the data blocks in the R groups by being a bitwise exclusive OR or NOR of those data blocks. Each of the groups of data blocks and the group of redundancy blocks are repeatedly transmitted from the transmitter. At the receiver/decoder, at least some of the transmitted blocks are received and supplied to the computer. The computer is used to determine for at least one of the received redundancy blocks whether that redundancy block and all except one of its respective data blocks have been received, and if so regenerate said one data block. Lost data blocks can be regenerated without waiting for retransmitting.
Dans ce procédé, le fichier ou une partie du fichier est divisé en R groupes de données, chacun étant subdivisé en un ensemble de C blocs de données. Un groupe de C blocs de redondance est produit, chaque bloc de redondance étant relié aux blocs de données respectifs dans les groupes R en représentant un OU ou NON-OU exclusif par bit de ces blocs de données. Chacun des groupes de blocs de données et le groupe des blocs de redondance sont transmis de manière répétée depuis un émetteur. Une partie au moins des blocs transmis sont reçus par le récepteur/décodeur et envoyés à l'ordinateur. L'ordinateur est utilisé pour déterminer pour au moins un des blocs de redondance reçus si ce bloc de redondance et tous les blocs de données respectifs sauf un ont été reçus, et si tel est le cas, pour régénérer ce bloc de données. Les blocs de données perdus peuvent ainsi être régénérés sans qu'il soit nécessaire d'attendre leur retransmission.
