A method and apparatus are provided for transferring a call on a call channel of a voice response unit of an automatic call distributor to a call destination. The method includes the steps of transferring a request for placing the call on hold to a switch controller of the automatic call distributor over a signalling channel associated with the call channel and transferring an identifier of the call destination over the call channel to the switch controller. The method further includes the step of connecting the call to the call destination.

Méthode et appareil permettant de transférer un appel sur un canal d'appel d'une unité à réponse vocale d'un répartiteur d'appels automatique vers une certaine destination. La méthode comprend les étapes suivantes : transférer une demande de mise en attente de l'appel à un contrôleur de commutateur du répartiteur d'appels automatique sur un canal de signalisation associé au canal d'appel; transférer un identificateur de la destination d'appel sur le canal d'appel vers le contrôleur de commutateur; établir la communication avec la destination d'appel.
