A b s t r a c t A dragee-making drum (10), whose axis of rotation (A) is at least approximately horizontal, has an at least approximately cylindrical shell (12) and two at least approximately frustum-shaped end wall por- tions (14) adjoining either side of the shell. These end wall portions (14) extend into the space enclosed by the shell (12) and terminate in annular zones (16) whose axial distance (C) from one another is consider- ably smaller than the width (B) of the shell (12). It is thereby achieved that the dragee-making material is spread between the frustum-shaped end wall portions (14). This gives rise to frictional forces which, in addition to the frictional forces that are caused by gravity and are the only forces having effect in known dragee-making drums, tend to entrain the dragee-making material in an upward direction as the drum rotates. Consequently, at a given speed of rotation of the dragee- making drum, the dragee-making material ascends further and above all more uniformly, in order to then finally spill down again.
