A window or door drain at the base of an extruded window or door sash or frame. A rectangular frame having a peripheral front flange defines a front drain opening for abutment against a wall of the sash or frame in which a flap having a planar rear surface and a front surface is pivotally mounted for opening and closing the drain opening, the flap having upper and lower edges and side edges, and the flap upper edge being rounded with cylindrical lug extensions of the upper edge extending laterally of the flap side edges for insertion into round mating holes in side walls of the frame in proximity to the top wall of the frame. The flap pivots from a closed position on a diagonal rear wall upwardly to an open position adjacent the frame top wall in the front drain opening. The flap has a guide protrusion in each side edge for centering the flap during pivoting in the drain opening and the planar flap has a protrusion in the front surface adjacent the distal lower edge thereof for abutment against the frame top wall, whereby the flap is substantially unimpeded by surface tension when pivoted to an open position.

Un dormant rectangulaire doté d'un rebord avant périphérique définit un orifice d'évacuation d'eau avant en butée contre une paroi du châssis ou du dormant, dans lequel un volet présentant des surfaces planes avant et arrière est monté pour ouvrir et fermer l'orifice du dispositif d'évacuation d'eau, le volet présentant des rebords supérieur et inférieur et des bords latéraux, et le bord supérieur du volet étant arrondi et des éléments cylindriques faisant saillie à partir du bord supérieur sur le côté des bords latéraux du volet pour être insérés dans les orifices ronds correspondant réalisés dans les parois latérales du dormant, à proximité de la paroi supérieure de celui-ci. Le volet pivote d'une position fermée sur une paroi arrière diagonale vers le haut, à une position ouverte adjacente à la paroi supérieure du dormant dans l'orifice d'évacuation avant. Le volet présente un élément guide en saillie de chaque côté de la paroi latérale pour centrer le volet pendant qu'il tourne dans l'orifice d'évacuation, et le volet présente un élément en saillie sur la surface avant adjacente au bord inférieur distal, de manière à être en butée contre la paroi supérieure du dormant, le mouvement du volet demeurant ainsi essentiellement non obstrué par la tension superficielle lorsqu'il tourne vers la position ouverte.
