A drainage catheter (10) is adapted to drain fluid from the body cavity through a body conduit and includes an elongate tube (34) having a distal end and a retention member (36) disposed at the distal end and adapted for movement between the low-profile state facilitating insertion of the catheter and a high-profile state facilitating the tension of the catheter (10) in its operative position. A woven mesh forms at least a portion of one of the tube and the retention member, and can be made permeable or impermeable in various regions of the catheter. The woven mesh (38) can be formed of filaments heat- settable so that the catheter automatically moves to the high-profile state. Insertion of the catheter (10) can be facilitated using an obturator (121) and a guidewire (127) in an associated method, an obturator (121) facilitating insertion of the catheter (10) can be removed to permit the catheter (10) to automatically return to a normal, high-profile state.
L'invention concerne un cathéter de drainage (10) conçu pour évacuer un fluide présent dans une cavité du corps, à travers un conduit du corps. Ce cathéter comprend un tube oblong (34) présentant une extrémité distale ainsi qu'un élément de rétention (36) disposé au niveau de cette dernière et conçu pour effectuer un mouvement entre un état non déployé facilitant l'insertion du cathéter et un état déployé facilitant la tension du cathéter (10) dans sa position fonctionnelle. Un treillis tissé forme au moins une partie du tube et de l'élément de rétention, et peut être rendu perméable ou imperméable dans différentes régions du cathéter. Ce treillis (38) peut être formé de filaments thermodurcissables de sorte que le cathéter passe automatiquement à l'état déployé. L'insertion du cathéter (10) peut être facilitée au moyen d'un obturateur (121) et d'un fil-guide (127) selon un procédé associé. L'obturateur (121) facilitant l'insertion du cathéter (10) peut être retiré pour permettre au cathéter (10) de repasser automatiquement à l'état déployé normal.
