- 10 - ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A valance beam for a drapery system has a top flange that corresponds to the top flange of a conven- tional I-beam drapery system. The web of the beam is wider than that of the conventional drapery track I-beam, while the bottom flange of the track is narrower than the conventional track. The valance track carries a strip of fastener component of the hook and loop pile type on an outer face of the beam web. The valance beam can be mounted and assembled using conventional I-beam hardware. When in place, a valance strip carrying a complimentary component of the fastener can be fastened directly to the beam in a simple and effective manner. Where desired, a second strip of fastener can be affixed to the back side of the beam and a curtain equipped with a complimentary strip or fastener can be fastened to the back side to provide a complete drapery system.
