Draw Works Transmission Control Abstract A hydraulically operated draw works or the like has a hydraulically disengaged brake, a trans- mission, and a brake control valve. A control for the hydraulic draw works includes an accumulator having a check valve connected between the brake control valve outlet and the brake to modulate the application of the brake after the brake has been fully released and to provide no modulation of brake application after the brake has been only partially released. This minimizes shock in the draw works components when a load is lowered rapidly and yet provides rapid action when operated slowly.
