ABSTRACT The apparatus assists a person in drawing a three-dimensional object on a flat translucent material such as paper. The apparatus consists of a transparent flatplastic screen within an adjustable upright frame. An adjustable sighting devicewith an eyepiece projects from one edge of the frame. A three dimensional object is placed beyond the transparent screen so that it can be viewed through the eyepiece and screen. The sighting device stabilizes the artist's viewing position and facilitates the tracing of the object upon the plastic screen with a light-coloured or white wax crayon. A sheet of paper or other translucent material is then placed over the drawing on the plastic screen. A light source is directed into one edge of the plastic screen thus making the white wax drawing lines visible through the paper or other translucent material. Following the illuminated lines the artist can now trace upon his paper with a pencil, pen or other means and thus transfer to his paper or other translucent material an accurate two-dimensional rendering of the observed three-dimensional object.
