ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a drawn and ironed can for containing products such as beer, carbonated soft drinks and the like which are capable of causing generation of an in- ternal pressure (A) within a glass bottle containing said products and being as same as said D&I can in the internal volume thereof, when contained products subsequent to sealing of said bottle are heated up to a specified maximum temperature, said can including a can body having a bottom closure wall made integral with a straight side wall and a top closure wall at the opening end of said can body, said bottom closure wall comprising an outer peripheral portion including annular pro- jecting means defining a standing base for said can body, and a central portion connected with said peripheral portion, said central portion being flexible and gradually distending under the influence of pressures increased gradually in said can with increasing temperature of the contained products to make a max- imum internal pressure (B) which is generated within said D&L can when said products reach to said specified maximum temperature lower than said pressure (A), and the outer peripheral portion of said bottom wall having a buckling resistant strength sufficient to withstand said internal pressure (B), characterized in that under the influence of said internal pressure (B), said central portion distends and the center of said central portion transfers from an original position at which said center exists when said D&I can is empty to another position within a range between at least 1mm from said original position and the vicinity of an end plane of said D&I can wherein said D&I can can keep its standing though the center transfers thereto, thereby said outer peripheral portion of said bottom wall is allowed to have a buckling resist- ant strength not sufficient to withstand said pressure (A), and consequently said outer peripheral portion is made thinner at least by 0.01mm less than the corresponding portion of a D&I can made of the same material, formed in the same shape and provided with a buckling resistant strength sufficient to with- stand said pressure (A).
