A polymer stent for treating vascular disorders, the stent is formed from a billet (10) having regions (24, 26, 28) with varying plastic strain imposed by drawing the regions through different sized dies at different speeds under different loads. The stent is placed on a catheter (78) and positioned within the vascular vessel being treated. The stent is expanded radially outwardly by a balloon (76) on the catheter, expansion being facilitated by heat applied to the stent from the balloon. The polymer molecules are oriented circumferentially by the expansion and the mechanical properties of the stent are established. The billet has different compounds, such as medicaments and radiopaque markers distributed throughout the regions. The medicaments are released into the blood stream. The stent may be bio-stable or bio-absorbable.
L'invention concerne un stent polymère permettant de traiter les troubles vasculaires. Le stent est obtenu à partir d'une billette ayant des zones à déformation plastique variable imposée par l'étirement des zones à travers des matrices aux tailles différentes à des vitesses différentes sous des charges distinctes. L'étirement oriente les molécules de la largeur du polymère le long du stent. Celui-ci est placé sur un cathéter et dans le vaisseau vasculaire en cours de traitement. Le stent est étendu vers l'extérieur de manière radiale par un ballonnet sur le cathéter, l'extension étant facilitée par la chaleur appliquée sur le stent et provenant du ballonnet. Les molécules polymères sont orientées sur le pourtour en raison de l'extension et les propriétés mécaniques du stent sont établies. La billette présente différents composés, notamment des médicaments et des marqueurs radiopaques distribués à travers les zones. Les médicaments sont libérés dans l'écoulement sanguin. Le stent peut être biostable ou bioabsorbable.
