ABSTRACT A gate for an insulating cylindrical drift tube is comprised of a plurality of spaced parallel wires cemented to an edge of one end of the tube, the wires each having similar tension between the edge, even numbered wires being electrically connected together, and odd numbered wires separately being electrically connected together, whereby two mutually insulating interdigitated grids of wires having similar tension are formed.
