A drill boom support assembly is provided in which an operatively generally horizontal frame supports a drill boom along which a drill supported on a carriage is movable. The drill boom is supported by the frame through a transversely extending track profiled to vary the inclination of the drill boom to the tunnel grade or axis in plan view according to the lateral location of the drill boom and more particularly to cause the axis of the drill boom to be inclined outwardly at or near the lateral extremities of the track and thus the lateral extremities of the tunnel.
