ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A rock drill extractor has an elongate extractor body of hardened steel, which is formed with a longitudinal recess open at one end and one side of the extractor body for receiving an end portion of a rock drill. The longitu- dinal recess is formed, at the end of the extractor body, with a constriction defined by a shoulder provided on the extractor body for abutment with a projection on the rock drill end portion. A further recess spaced from the opposite end of the extractor body forms a blast chamber, which is elongate longitudinally of the extraction body, the further recess being open at opposite sides of the extractor body. In use, the extractor is fitted onto the end portion of the rock drill, while the latter is anchored in rock, and an explosive charge in the blast chamber is exploded to pull the drill from the rock.
