A drill stand for a hand drilling machine (30) has been provided with a longitudinally adjustable support (2, 4) on which chuck jaws (20) for the drilling machine are positioned in a slidable manner. A spring (50) pushes the drilling machine (30) forward in the feeding direction. By means of an adjusting unit (40), positioned on the support (2, 4), the drilling machine (30) is hoisted via the spring (50), and the spring (50) is pressed together to produce the force to advance.
