The present invention provides a drilling fluid composition and a method of drilling comprising a drilling fluid, which may be oil- or water-based, and a composite microsphere component. The invention drilling fluid composition advantageously reduces the density of a conventional fluid, reduces costs associated with pumping and overcomes problems associated with conventional gas-injection processes. The invention uses conventional drilling and pumping equipment, requires no sea-floor based pumps and may be easily pressure- controlled to maintain the pressure of the fluid.
La présente invention concerne une composition de liquide de forage et une technique de forage faisant appel audit liquide de forage, lequel peut comprendre un liquide à base d'huile ou d'eau, et des microsphères composites. La composition de liquide de forage de l'invention offre l'avantage de présenter une densité moindre qu'un liquide classique, de réduire les coûts afférents au pompage et d'éviter les problèmes associés aux méthodes classiques d'injection de gaz. L'invention convient pour des équipements de forage et de pompage classiques, ne nécessite pas l'emploi de pompes reposant sur le fond de la mer et permet de réguler facilement et de maintenir la pression du liquide.
