A drill motor apparatus has a cylindrical motor casing adapted at an input end thereof for connection to a pressurized air source, and a motor shaft, with an outer surface defining a plurality of helical vanes, mounted inside the motor casing with outer edges of the vanes close to an inner surface of the motor casing so air is prevented from passing between the outer edges of the vanes and the motor casing. The motor shaft rotates freely in the motor casing. Input and output bearing mechanisms rotatably support the motor shaft and define air passages such that pressurized air can pass through the input bearing mechanism and into grooves formed by adjacent vanes and then out through the output bearing mechanism. An output end of the motor shaft extends out of the motor casing and is adapted for attachment of a drill bit.
