A drilling system, comprising: a drilling machine (10) ,- a drill string (26) connected at one end to the drilling machine so as to be driveable in an axial direction; and a guide (30) connected to the drilling machine such that when the drill string is driven axially by the drilling machine, it interacts with the guide so as to be directed in a predetermined radial direction; wherein the drill string is permanently engaged so as to be slideable in the guide. A method of drilling a lateral borehole from a main borehole, comprises: positioning a drilling system as claimed in any preceding claim in the main borehole; anchoring the guide in the borehole adjacent the location at which the lateral borehole is to be drilled; operating the drilling machine to drive the drill string in an axial direction; and deflecting the drill string, by means of the guide, in a radial direction into the wall of the main borehole to drill the lateral borehole.
L~invention concerne un système de forage, comprenant : une machine de forage (10) ; une garniture de forage (26) raccordée à une extrémité de la machine de forage pour pouvoir être enfoncée dans une direction axiale ; et un guide (30) raccordé à la machine de forage de telle sorte que, lorsque la garniture de forage est enfoncée axialement par la machine de forage, elle entre au contact du guide qui l~oriente alors dans une direction radiale prédéterminée. Le système de forage est caractérisé en ce que la garniture de forage est engagée de façon permanente de façon à pouvoir coulisser dans le guide. L~invention concerne également un procédé de forage d~un puits latéral à partir d~un puits principal, comprenant les étapes consistant à : mettre en place dans le puits principal le système de forage selon l~invention ; ancrer le guide dans le puits en position adjacente à celle au niveau de laquelle le puits latéral doit être foré ; faire fonctionner la machine de forage pour enfoncer la garniture de forage dans une direction axiale ; et dévier la garniture de forage au moyen du guide dans une direction axiale pour lui faire traverser la paroi du puits principal et forer le puits latéral.
