ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A drilling tool (8) is exchangeably mounted in a tool spindle (1) of a drilling unit. The drilling tool (8) is supported by a tool support (6) tiltable about an axis per- pendicular to the axis of the spindle. The tool support (6) is connected with a supporting arm (10) resting on a slightly divergent wedging surface (12) of an adjustment member (13) which is axially shiftable in the tool spindle (1) by means of a connecting rod (15). The wedging surface is slightly divergent with respect to the axis of the spindle, at about 1°. Axial shifting of the connecting rod (15), results in radial displacement of the drilling tool (8). The drilling tool (8) is capable of being tightened in the tool support (6) by a setbolt tightening arrangement (18, 19, 20) utilizing balls mounted in an axially shiftable tightening cage (18). At the end of the axial movement of the connecting rod (15), the con- necting rod shifts the tightening cage (18) against its resiliently maintained tight position and thus releases the setbolt tightening of the drilling tool (8). The device pro- vides a lesser space requirement and simpler structure and can be conveniently arranged within the tool spindle, avoiding the need of tool carrying means normally mounted at the front face of the tool support.
