DRIP COFFEEMAKER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In an electric thermostat-controlled brewing apparatus such as a coffeemaker having an upright C-shaped housing, one horizontal leg with a heated carafe support and the other carrying a water spreader, the vertical leg enclosing an accessible water reservoir with an apertured bottom wall and a pump and heating chamber in the housing bottom for delivering heated water by connected tube means through a separate definitive condenser to the spreader, and improvement is provided in the specific condenser structure of a generally cylindrical elongated member larger in cross section than the connected tube means, the member having an off center radially directed water inlet from the heating chamber into the member at the bottom thereof with a vertically disposed baffle in the member and directing means opposite the offset inlet to impart a non-swirling upward flow to incoming heated water. A reducing portion at the top of the member forms a longitudinal vertical outlet connection to the tube means and to the spreader. A captured limited travel ball check valve at the member outlet connection is disposed for vertical ball travel but not water flow with the whole elongated condensing member disposed below the water reservoir in the vertical leg of the coffeemaker whereby right angle swirling flow through the condenser member from the heater provides a large condensing volume to eliminate steam to the spreader.
