ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a driving and locking device including: (a) motor means arranged to drivingly engage a first rotor and apply torque to same and move same in a first direction; (b) said first rotor being provided with at least one rigid stop engagable with a rigid stop on a stator to arrest the motion of said rotor; (c) torque transferal means for transferring the torque applied by said motor means from said first rotor to a second rotor, thereby to move said second rotor in a second direction, said torque transferal means being operative to transfer torque back to said first rotor if motion of said second rotor is arrested; and (d) locking means actuated by movement of said second rotor in said second direction to lock said rigid stop of said first rotor against said rigid stop of said stator.
