DRIVE AXLE FLUID SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A combined lubrication and brake actuating fluid system for a drive axle, separate from the transmission hydraulic system of the vehicle, which utilizes the dif- ferential housing as a reservoir and uses the extreme pressure gear lubricant therein as the operating fluid. A pump distributes the gear lubricant through a pressure balanced spool valve, responsive to a brake pedal con- trolled pilot pressure valve associated with the trans- mission hydraulic system having output ports to both the lubricating inlet of the axle assembly and also to the brake actuating input port.
