In order to overcome problems with residual d.c. offset, and input signals with arbitrary timing, a drive circuit for a ferroelectric liquid cyrstal device includes a counter (20) arranged for counting between first and second predetermined values in response to an input signal (10), and being such as to count in a first direction in response to a positive edge of the input signal and in a second direction in response to a negative edge of the input signal, and gating and latching circuits (18, 14) responsive to the counting of the counter means and the direction of count such as to provide appropriate positive or negative output voltage pulses for driving a ferroelectric liquid crystal device. An output stage comprising a bridge circuit (50) is coupled via a step up transformer (54) to the display device.
Pour surmonter les problèmes résultant des décalages résiduels des courants continus et des signaux d'entrée à caractéristiques temporelles quelconques, un circuit d'attaque de dispositif à cristaux liquides ferroélectriques utilise un compteur (20) monté de façon à effectuer un comptage entre une première et une seconde valeur prédéterminée en réponse à l'arrivée d'un signal d'entrée (10), ce comptage étant effectué dans une première direction en réponse au passage du flanc ascendant du signal d'entrée et dans une seconde direction en réponse au passage du flanc descendant du signal d'entrée, et des circuits de commande et de brouillage (18, 14) qui réagissent au comptage et à la direction du comptage pour produire des tensions impulsives positives ou négatives servant à attaquer le dispositif à cristaux liquides ferroélectriques. Un étage de sortie comportant un circuit de pontage (50) est couplé au dispositif d'affichage par l'intermédiaire d'un transformateur élévateur (54).
